Topless Apparel - About us

Topless Apparel started on a canvas. Founder Sean McGarry entered an art show in Buffalo, New York called Artists and Models. The theme of this show was conveniently fashioned toward the pleasures and dangers of nightfall. At this time his artistic style was flourishing and he created eight original paintings specifically for the show. But painting costs money. A lot of money. So, in order to recoup some of the costs from this event, he decided to sell t-shirts sporting images of his more vivid paintings. Topless Apparel was the name chosen to articulate an inherent sensuality coupled with a dash of silliness. These shirts sold fairly well and he began thinking about the t-shirt instead of the canvas as a vehicle for the art.

Since then, Topless Apparel has been growing and shaping to fit the design constraints of both the art world and the fashion police. Not necessarily belonging to either, Topless Apparel has set out to bridge the gap with something new, something more complex and something with a sense of humor. But everything starts with a painting.

For Valentines Day in 2008, McGarry and company threw an erotically themed party under the title "Lovers and Slaves." This show took the viewer through three levels of paintings, rated PG, R, and NC-17. Each area was zoned as to caution the viewer and challenge their own threshold of intensity. Along with each painting was a brief story helping to further convey the message of the piece. These stories are the same as the ones provided in the Artwork section of ToplessApparel.com.

McGarry has taken great lengths to ensure the men and women painted are glimpses of an ideal. His vision of sexy is rooted in control, confidence and levity. Our vision here at Topless Apparel is to embrace the same fundamental aim of the artwork and deliver a product representing those same ideals: control, confidence and levity. And never, ever taking yourself too seriously.

Below are some photos of the past two years as to show some milestones pertaining to the growth and history of Topless Apparel.
